Non- Toxic Empowerment Charity

For 12 years the MAAPFoundation has been working closely with Uganda communities striving to support local clinics struggling to find the capacity to offer urgent healthcare for their own. The map above show the locations “experimenting” with innovative ways to raise funds to provide local medicine and services for those who cannot pay.

Today, thousands are not turned away as mothers and babies come begging to MAAPFoundation partnering Catholic rural clinics who offer lifesaving treatments available nowhere else.

In 2013 a small pig farm in Nakifuma Uganda sponsored by US donors started the idea of helping communities help themselves and generate sustainable income. The idea was successful as the concept of microfinancing agribusiness venture start ups became a boost to other communities adding access to patients who might otherwise be turned away.

MAAPFoundation partners are US donors striving to promote dignity, respect, honor strength inherent in local leaders. Together the “non toxic charity”goal I collaborating in such a way seeking long term solutions addressing the crippling impact of poverty.

“Toxic charity”, a term first described by Bob Lipton in has book by this title cautions:

“ Give once and one creates appreciation,

Give twice leads to appreciation

Give three times expectations

Give four times entitlement

Five time giving yields dependency “

As pigs or poultry are sold, the business side is measured seeking maximum impact, management performance, and maximum profits as central to the original mission.

However, equally valuable “outcomes” of these collaborative venture capital enterprises measured include:

Global teamwork and entrepreneurship

Mentoring, relationship building, understanding

Problem Solving

Celebrating growth and development progress along with financial gains.
