Women and Children First?

“Women and children first”  is an unofficial legendary code of conduct whereby the lives of women and children were to be saved first in a life-threatening crisis like abandoning ship.

Upon my return from my 4 extended medical mission trips to Uganda I share that I noticed over and over  that women did most ALL the work: tilled the fields, harvested and gathered the wood for kindling to cook, and often doing everything with a baby on their back and little ones tailing along.

The impoverished pregnant mothers are especially terribly neglected and when it is time to deliver her child she is often treated harshly as a destitute penniless outcast. ( I ask over and over: How can I help?- Just one person living so far away)

So many Uganda women are single mothers and are very often abandoned by men after babies are born

I find it hard to believe that after everything they do, they're treated like they're not as VALUABLE!”

Now, I share photos of the deplorable circumstances and have 20 clinics now cooperating to offer a women and babies first priority for maternal healthcare

Photos and poems help tell my/our MAAPFoundation story as MAAPFoundation board of directors and volunteers are pledged to improve life for mothers and babies in Uganda.
